Verismo Opera Announces Ballet Audition

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera announces auditions for ballet dancers and ballet schools will be held. Young adult, semi-professional or professional classical ballet dancers are invited to apply and perform in the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's grand production of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida. Celebrating its 28th season, Verismo Opera seeks to collaborate with ballet schools in New Jersey, preferably from Bergen County, to provide ballet students, ages 16 to 20 years of age, or older professional dancers interested in performing opportunities with the largest professional, grand opera company in the county.

Under Artistic Director Lucine Amara, a Metropolitan Opera luminary, Verismo Opera, the house opera company of the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC), presents fully staged productions with traditional sets, costumes, the Verismo Opera Chorus and a live orchestra. The company's performance of Aida will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at bergenPAC in Englewood, New Jersey. For information about this performing opportunity and to schedule an audition appointment, contact Stage Director/General Manager Evelyn La Quaif or Technical Director Giovanni Simone at info@verismopera.org.

Accessibility

Verismo Opera is committed to ensuring its programs and services are accessible to all. bergenPAC is handicapped accessible, with street parking available in front of the theatre and designated handicapped parking spaces. Hearing assist systems may be picked up in the theatre upon request to the house manager in the lobby.

About New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera

For 28 years, the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera has been an integral part of the region's classical music culture. Led by Metropolitan Opera luminary Lucine Amara, Verismo Opera delivers a rich, grand opera experience for performers and viewers.

As the Bergen Performing Arts Center's house opera company, Verismo Opera provides performing opportunities for young musicians and artists through its semi-annual productions at the theatre and concerts held in community settings. Community members are invited to get involved as supernumeraries and volunteers.

An annual international vocal competition is conducted in November with finals generally drawing artists throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Verismo Opera also organizes opera workshops, master classes and concerts and offers affordable, highly professional productions.
