The Woodruff School ACE Music Theater Program Announces Cast for Spring Production of JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH JR.

The Woodruff School ACE Music Theater Program has its cast completed for their spring production of James and the Giant Peach JR. Produced with special permission from Music Theatre International, Based on one of Roald Dahl's most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this "masterpeach" of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic. The musical will open April. 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2017 (all shows 7pm). Each show will be open with a red carpet for all guests 45 minutes before each show. There will be a press preview April 4th from 2:30-4:30pm.
Drew Nakai (Aladdin JR.) will star as James. He will be joined by Rosa Salvatierra (Fame JR, The Lion King JR) as 'Ladahlord',Lauryn Sheppard (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR) as the 'Sponge', and Alex Basile (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR) as 'Spiker'.
The cast will also feature Amber Dickinson (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR) as 'Ladybug', Evan Hemple (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR), Brooklyn Richmond (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR) as 'Centipede', Abby Shaffer/Alyssa Lee (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR) as 'Spider' and Maddie Ott (Aladdin JR, Legally Blonde JR) as the 'Earthworm'.
The 48 person cast of Aladdin JR. will also feature Ahmad Ross, Emily Wilchensky, Candace Hudson, Korrine Maurer, Atira Myrie, Rayana Bauer, William Shaw, Abby Pino, Bryan Howard, Amanda Volk, Erin Eckert, Luke Erianne, Gavin Frazer, Gianna Trexler, Jaydan Hoffner, Katie Fallon, Eric Chu, Samantha Talorico, Hunter Fleetwood, Alex Zimmerman, Ayden Horsman, Dana Horsman, Aaliyah Telfair, Trinity Williams, Abrieon Branch, Yancy Stone, Caden Everingham, Luciano Sanchez, Emily Ford, Jessica Gibbs, LillIan Cruz Garcia, and Emiliano Garcia.
James and the Giant Peach JR features music and lyrics by 2017 Oscar Award "Best Original Song" winning lyricists Justin Paul and Benj Pasek with a book by iTheatrics CEO and Junior Theatre Festival Founder, Timothy Allen McDonald. Spencer Lau will direct. "When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way." -mtishows.com
James and the Giant Peach JR will be designed by scenic designer Dana Cesare, lighting designer Gavin Frazer, stage manager Desmond Martinez, and costumed by iTheatrics/Off Broadway costumer, Shirlee Idzakovich.
The production team includes director Spencer Lau, musical director Tanya Nakai, stunts director Jeanine Lancetta and choreographed by Spencer Lau, Lindsay Nakai, and Ahmad Ross.
