The Company Theater's FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS Opens Tonight

The Company Theatre Group, Inc. is pleased to present FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS, written by the Oscar, Emmy, & Golden Globe winning writer Alan Ball. This is The Company's 19th professional production in Hackensack, and this show features five highly talented women - all extraordinary actors who call New Jersey home.

This entertaining & funny play takes an irreverent look at the relationships between five very different bridesmaids, each trying to escape the reception because none of them really likes the bride at all.

In Five Women Wearing The Same Dress, we find five reluctant bridesmaids hiding together from the wedding reception, each with her own reason to avoid the festivities. The five are: Frances, the painfully sweet but sheltered fundamentalist, Mindy, the wise-cracking lesbian sister of the groom, Georgeanne, the heart-broken figure whose own marriage has failed, Meredith, the precocious rebel and the bride's younger sister, and Trisha, the jaded cynic whose feelings that men are all scum is called into question when she meets Tripp, a charming bad-boy usher to whom there is more than meets the eye. As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent and touching celebration of the women's spirit.

Five Women Wearing The Same Dress premiered on off-Broadway in 1993 at the MCC Theater. It has been produced in many regional theaters around the country ever since.

The Company was founded in the summer of 2007 by a number of like-minded actors, directors, and writers. In May of 2008, The Company produced its first show at the Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, Chapter Two. Then, in January of 2009, The Company became The Company Theatre Group, Inc. The organization received its non-profit status in July 2009. By May 2012, they were producing under equity contracts. To date, The Company Theatre Group, Inc. has produced more than 40 shows and staged-readings in Hackensack.

Then, as now, The Company draws inspiration from the acclaimed Group Theatre. And, like the Group Theatre, The Company Theatre Group believes in creating authentic human behavior on stage - "Life in Fiction" they call it. Their goal is to create a thought-provoking. highly entertaining experience in an environment where each audience member can feel like a fly on the wall watching the lives of real people unfold and sometimes unravel right before their eyes.

Schedule: 6 shows only, April 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 Saturdays at 8:00PM and Sunday at 3:30PM.

Audience: Children under 4 are not permitted into the theatre.

Teens and kids under 16 not permitted without parent.

The Hackensack Cultural Arts Center, owned and managed by the Hackensack Recreation and Cultural Department, hosts a variety of artistic events, including theatrical productions, poetry readings, art galas and historical reenactments. The Cultural Arts Center also produces its own programming, including comedy nights and an annual children's show in December.
