The Drowsy Chaperone is a parody of American musical comedy of the 1920s. The story concerns a middle-aged, musical theater fan; as he plays the record of his favorite musical, the (fictional) 1928 hit The show comes to life onstage as he wryly comments on the music, story, and actors. Directed by Christopher J. Guell of New Brunswick, Musically Directed by David F. Shirley of Tinton Falls, Choreographed by Amanda Papa of Edison and Produced by Andrew S. Golden of Dunellen.

The Media and Performance Collective and Brook Arts Center are producing The Drowsy Chaperone to benefit Alternatives, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to individuals and families with special needs which enable them to reach their highest level of independence and integration into the community. All profits after expenses will be donated to Alternatives, Inc. to aid in their mission of providing Dignity Through Independence.

The main cast features the talents of Michael Patierno, Kylie Francis, Joey Tibel, Rosie Schultz, Bradford Lindsay, Joe Zedeny, Joe Schmidt, Rachel Brown, Aaron Bogdanovsky, Billy Mills, Carolyn Vicari, Bill Osman and Jessica Steele with Patrick Carty, Christa DiLalo, Pat Napurano, Alexis Perez and Hanna Wasserman rounding out the ensemble.

The Brook Arts Center and Media and Performance Collective are non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations committed to cultivating the arts in Somerset County and throughout New Jersey in order to inspire creativity, learning, and growth through the performing arts.
