The South Camden Theatre Company, a nonprofit professional theatre company located in Camden, New Jersey continues its eighth season titled "Home in Waterfront South" featuring a special workshop production of the newly discovered EXORCISM: A PLAY IN ONE ACT written by Eugene O'Neill.
A four performance workshop production of EXORCISM written by Eugene O'Neill and directed by Joseph M. Paprzycki opens Friday January 18, 2013 at 8 p.m. Revolving around a suicide attempt; EXORCISM draws on a dark incident in O'Neill's own life and portrays an early example of personal human drama that would become the center of his later work. Shortly after the original debut of EXORCISM in 1920, O'Neill canceled production and ordered all copies of the drama destroyed and the play was believed to be irrevocably lost until a copy was discovered in 2010.Founder and Producing Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki states, "I am honored that South Camden Theatre Company will be one of the few theatre companies to ever produce this rarely seen early O'Neill work. My approach to directing this play is to mine for all of the ironic humor that it contains. By bringing the young playwright's work to our stage I hope to show our audience the themes of his later work that began in EXORCISM."Videos
