Ritz Theatre to Present THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER, 10/11-13

There is an interesting phenomenon affecting the junior citizens of the South Jersey and Philadelphia. They symptoms of this are start out as guttural, tonal gasps of air, these particular, youthful gasps crescendo into bright and jolly giggles. The last of these symptoms is the full and gleeful dilation of the child's pupils. If this is the case for your child, then you are most likely attending a story being told by Ritzy the Wolf at the Ritz Theatre Company in Haddon Township, New Jersey.

Currently, Ritzy is putting his abilities as a clever storyteller to use on the classic tale of The Prince and the Pauper. This story is well known, and has been told countless different ways across a broad spectrum of cultures, creeds and nationalities. In 1977, a film adaptation was made starring Raquel Welch, Oliver Reed and George C. Scott. In 1990, Disney used their famous animal storyteller, Mickey Mouse in an adaptation of the story.

Now, young audiences and their parents will be reunited with the idylls of two boys who switch places for an afternoon and turn a whole kingdom on its ear. The story begins with two boys, one is a privileged young prince, destined to take his throne, dissatisfied with his palatial life. The other is a poor peasant, free from the constraints of palace life, but burdened heavily by the feudal system to which he is subject. In a chance meeting, each boy decides the other's life is far more appealing. In the end, the two young men learn that despite their upbringings, it is better to be one's self and create their own futures than be somebody else and accept their pasts.

The Prince and the Pauper will be playing from October 11th-13th at the Ritz Theatre Company, located at 915 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn, NJ, 08107. Performances begin at 10:00 am with a One O'clock performance on October 13th.
