Black is also the co-creator of the television shows Viva Variety, Stella and Michael and Michael Have Issues. He was a series regular on NBC's Ed (in which he played Phil, the quirky bowling alley manager) and was featured on VH1's I Love the ... series, where he became known for providing hilarious, irreverent commentary on pop culture history. On the big screen, Black starred in Wet Hot American Summer, Hell Baby, This is 40, Take Me Home Tonight, The Ten and The Baxter. More recently, he's been a lead on TVLand's The Jim Gaffigan Show, on Comedy Central's Another Period, and in two Netflix series, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.
