Ruth Apolonia Zamoyta's play stars Mikaela Kafka, Jenny Bacon, and Paul Murphy at the Weehawken Water Tower.
Hudson Theatre Works “Theatre On The Edge” will present PlayWorks, a reading of “Marcy” by Ruth Apolonia Zamoyta including a talkback with the playwright. The event is on Wednesday, June 3rd 7pm at The Weehawken Water Tower.
Waiting for out new theatre to be built on the waterfront, by Port Imperial, Hudson Theatre Works, is continuing it's PlayWorks' series of new play readings at the Historic Weehawken Water Tower.
Marcy, 60-year-old scion of a poor family in a depressed town in rural New York, is diagnosed with cancer, has six months to live, and decides to donate the family's valuable lakefront “camp” to charity. Her estranged siblings, Colby and Little Jo, plagued by poverty and addiction with no foreseeable way out, try to persuade Marcy to leave them the camp. But as they argue, threaten, bribe, and manipulate, the truth behind a deadly incident that occurred 40 years ago—the event that drove them their separate ways—is peeled back, skin by skin. Both deeply nuanced and intense.
The play includes Mikaela Kafka, Jenny Bacon and Paul Murphy. The show is directed by Michael Bias with Sound Design/Music by Donald Stark, and Stage Managed by Dawn D'Arrigo.
