Kaleidoscope Theatre Presents Live History Lesson in POCAHONTAS Musical at MCCC's Kelsey Theatre 10/11

By:

West Windsor, N.J. - History comes to life for young audiences in the enchanting tale of "Pocahontas" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. This original stage musical is presented by the award-winning Kaleidoscope Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on MCCC's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

It's the early 1600s on the shores of the New World and British and Native American cultures are about to be introduced to each other. When our heroine, Pocahontas, meets British explorer John Smith and his fellow colonists, she finds she has much to teach them about honoring each other, caring for the natural environment, and respecting the never-ending circle of life. Eventually, her life's journey takes her all the way to England as the wife of British citizen John Rolfe.

The Rhode-Island based Kaleidoscope Theatre has made Kelsey Theatre one of the regular stops for its traveling company; the troupe earned rave reviews for its production of "The Emperor's New Clothes" in the spring. Founded in 1977, Kaleidoscope's goal is to educate and entertain young people through presentational and participatory drama.

Tickets for "Pocahontas" are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $10 for students and children. Tickets may be purchased online at www.kelseytheatre.net or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333. Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible, with free parking available next to the theater.

Due to sell-out crowds, Kelsey Theatre has added two more performances of the "FROZEN Movie Sing-A-Long" on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. For a complete listing of adult and children's events for the 2014-15 season, visit the Kelsey webpage or call the box office for a brochure.
