FOREVER TANGO to Play NJPAC's Prudential Hall, 11/10
Mesmerizing audiences on TV's Dancing with the Stars, director-composer-producer Luis Bravo's seductive Forever Tango dances its way into NJPAC's Prudential Hall on Sunday, November 10 at 7:00pm. Featuring a company of 26 Argentinean performers: 14 world-class dancers, a vocalist, and an 11-piece, onstage orchestra FOREVER TANGO showcases the intoxicating music and dance of Argentina.
Tickets are $69.00-$19.00- and can be purchased at www.njpac.org, by calling 1-888-GO-NJPAC or by visiting the box office at One Center Street in Downtown Newark.
Through dance, music (both traditional and original compositions), and inventive, dramatic vignettes, this sensuous, highly theatrical production traces the tango's colorful history - from its birth in turn-of-the-century Buenos Aires bordellos to its acceptance into high society. Male dancers move in sleek black tuxedos with matching ties, fedoras and shiny black shoes, and female dancers dressed in stunning cocktail dresses, high heels and fishnet stockings seductively embrace, dip and lunge at lightning speed. The original Forever Tango took San Francisco by storm in 1994, where it played an unprecedented 92 weeks. In 1997, the show played its first of three engagements on Broadway, where it earned rave reviews and became the longest-running tango show in Broadway history.
Programming has been made possible in part by funds from the Horizon Foundation Urban Music Series, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, by funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, and by Discover Jersey Arts. NJPAC is a wheelchair accessible facility and provides assistive services for patrons with disabilities.
