Not sure what to give for a present this year? Why not the gift of theater? The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company has Season Tickets available for its 2011 Mainstage Season. The recipient can choose what days to attend - and even bring friends! Five tickets cost only $100.00, and may be used in any way. Patrons may see every production, or bring friends to see one or two shows, use all five for one performance, or give a ticket or two to friends! There are five separate tickets in the Season Ticket packet, so individual tickets may actually be given to others for their use. Prices in 2011 are $30 for general admission; $25 for senior citizens; and $15 for full-time students, so purchasing Season Tickets is a real savings. To encourage whole families to attend, anyone age 12 and under is still free.

All tickets may be purchased at the box office; by sending a check to ELTC's office at 121 Fourth Ave., West Cape May, NJ 08204, or online through ELTC's website at www.eastlynnetheater.org. For questions, call 609-884-5898.

On March 18 and 19, ELTC's popular Sherlock Holmes' radio-style adventure returns, complete with live sound effects and commercials. These are the final performances in Cape May of "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle," before it goes on the road. To save an innocent man from prison, Holmes and Watson must find the thief who stole a valuable gem.

From June 15-July 23, is "He and She" written by actor/director/playwright Rachel Crothers. A married couple vie for the same artistic prize at a time when their teenage daughter needs guidance. First produced on Broadway in 1920, with Crothers playing the lead, this well-crafted, thought-provoking comedy/drama was timely then, and timely now, dealing with the dilemma of a woman who is a wife and mother with a career. When ELTC first produced "He and She" in 1997, "The Newark Star-Ledger" awarded it The Best Play of the New Jersey Season.

Next up is "The World of Dorothy Parker," running from July 27- Sept. 3. This is a world premiere based on the writings of Dorothy Parker, the famous Algonquin Round Table wit, adapted by Gayle Stahlhuth. This ensemble potpourri includes "A Telephone Call" where a woman anxiously waits for a man to call, "Here We Are" about a newlyweds' awkward conversation on their way to their honeymoon, and other famous tales and poems.

On Sept. 16 and 17, "Helpful Hints" returns for these two nights only. Based on "Putnam's Household Handbook" written by Mae Savell Croy, adapted and performed by Susan Tischler, and directed by Karen Case Cook, this comedy is one of ELTC's popular touring productions. Join Mrs. Croy as she explains everything from cleaning clothes with kerosene, to leaving babies outside when they cry.

"Dulcy," a comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winners George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly plays for four weeks only, from Sept. 21-Oct. 15. In trying to help her husband, Dulcy alienates his boss and complicates matters with her other weekend guests. The original 1921 production not only established the reputations of Kaufman and Connelly but made a star of Lynn Fontanne who played Dulcy. Kaufman's daughter, Anne, is eager to return to Cape May for another Q&A, and ELTC is thrilled to be producing another Kaufman play!

On Nov. 4 and 5, ELTC presents a new radio-play mystery, "Sherlock Holmes' Adventure of the Norwood Builder," performed in the style of an NBC radio show from the 1930's. All of the evidence points to a young lawyer as the murderer. But is he being set-up, or is he the murderer after all? It's an exciting puzzle fit for Holmes and Watson.

For the holidays, from November 25 through December 10, its "Christmas Presents from the Past," classic American Christmas stories by Louisa May Alcott, O. Henry, and Mark Twain, told in storytelling fashion by Gayle Stahlhuth, who is known for portraying thirty-plus roles in telling a tale. A treat for the whole family!

Throughout the year, East Lynne Theater Company has shows-on-the-road and educational outreach. Anyone interested in placing an ad in next season's playbill or being a Season or Show Sponsor, or volunteering, let the company know.

Meanwhile, there are only two more times to see "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus": Friday and Saturday at 8:30 on Dec. 10 and 11. The location is The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., where the company is in residence.
