Crossroads Theatre Closes HOLIDAY JUBILEE 12/18

By:

Holiday Jubilee, a rousing family musical revue that celebrates the spirit of the season through a multicultural lens, premieres at the Tony Award®-winning Crossroads Theatre Company in New Brunswick, N.J., Dec. 10 through 18.

A holiday show for young and old alike, the musical revue features traditional seasonal favorites along with international selections, many of them staged to encourage audience participation. Adults may receive one free ticket for a child between 5 and 12 years for every adult ticket purchased. Additional children's tickets are $15 each. Holiday Jubilee is recommended for children ages 5 and older.

Student "rush" tickets are $15 each for teenagers and college students.

The show's six-member ensemble includes seasoned Broadway veterans and emerging talents whose diverse backgrounds help to form the foundation of this all new revue.
"We wanted to create a holiday show with a cast that reflects the diversity of our community," said Crossroads' Producer Marshall Jones, III.

Holiday Jubilee is directed by Rick Sordelet, who also is a noted stage combat specialist on Broadway and in regional theater.

The cast features:

Colleen Hawks, who recently appeared in the Broadway musical Shrek and also is choreographer for Holiday Jubilee; Stephen Agosto, who has toured in the national tour of Beauty and the Beast; Gemini Quintos, who appeared in the 25th anniversary production of Annie; Jeanel LeBlanc and Aaron Boykin, both music majors at Rutgers University. Martin Carpenter is a recent graduate of University of the Arts; Gail Lou is musical director.

The Crossroads Theatre Company was founded in 1978 by Ricardo Khan and L. Kenneth Richardson with the vision that African-American theater is intended for a broad base diverse audience. As a major force in the development of new ideas and the introduction of formally marginalized writers, Crossroads brought works that challenged the notion that only one class or group of people could be represented on the American stage. Over the years, Crossroads has produced 40 world premieres and in recognition of its success was presented with the prestigious Tony Award in 1999 as the "outstanding regional theatre in America."
