Famous comedian, Bill Cosby, best known for his role as Dr. Cliff Huxtable on "The Cosby Show" will be performing live at the Bergen Performing Arts Center September 24 at 8 p.m.

The eight seasons running comedy series won countless awards and set a high caliber for sitcoms to come. The show broke the sitcom mold being one the first middle class African-American families in the mainstream on television. While each episode dealt with the typical family issues, they also broke many stereotypes along the way. The Cosby Show is one of the most influential shows on television.

Cosby's career did not start with the infamous The Cosby Show. While the show garnered him the most success it was his endeavors beforehand that got him enough recognition to have the self-titled show.

He first broke racial barriers when he pkayed the leading role in the television show I Spy. Cosby won three Emmy Awards for his performance on the program. In addition to sitcoms, Cosby also produced educational children's programs such as The Electric Company and Fat Albert and The Cosby Kids, both of which Cosby was part of the cast.

The Cosby Show was Cosby's biggest and most influential success. His long standing career has made him not only a comedic icon, but one of America's favorite dads. Cosby's show did something that many have tried to imitate, but were not able to duplicate. The hilarious comedian's stand-up is sure to keep the audience.
