CABARET To Be Presented At TheatreZone During 2026-2027 Season
FGCU students will share the stage with Equity actors in the Kander & Ebb classic, directed by Mark Danni.
TheatreZone and Florida Gulf Coast University will collaborate on a joint production of CABARET, opening TheatreZone’s 2026–2027 season. The musical, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, will be directed by TheatreZone Artistic Director Mark Danni.
Performances will take place October 8, 9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees October 10 and 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the FGCU TheatreLab, located at 10501 FGCU Boulevard South in Fort Myers.
Set in Berlin during the final days of the Jazz Age, Cabaret takes place inside the Kit Kat Club, where a Master of Ceremonies presides over a changing social and political landscape. The story follows American writer Cliff Bradshaw and performer Sally Bowles, with the musical incorporating songs including “Willkommen,” “Maybe This Time,” and “Cabaret.”
Since its Broadway debut in 1966, Cabaret has received multiple Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, and has been revived internationally.
The production will feature a cast of FGCU students performing alongside professional Actors’ Equity Association performers as part of TheatreZone’s ongoing partnership with FGCU’s Bower School of Music.
“One of the most exciting parts of this collaboration is watching students grow as artists while working side by side with seasoned professionals,” said Mark Danni.
Casting and additional creative team details will be announced at a later date.
