Aspire Performing Arts Company to Present THE WEDDING SINGER, 7/29-31

By: Jul. 11, 2016
On July 29 - 31, 2016, Aspire Performing Arts Company will present The Wedding Singer, based on the hit Adam Sandler movie of the same name. The Wedding Singer will feature members of Aspire PAC's Senior Performing Ensemble, actors ranging in age from 11 through 18 from Wayne and the surrounding communities.

The Wedding Singer takes us back to 1985 - a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room. Wannabe rock-star Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party, until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

The 1998 film captured hearts and grossed over $120 million nationwide. The Broadway musical opened in April of 2006, with music by Matthew Sklar, and book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy (former writer for "Saturday Night Live" and author of the original screenplay). It was nominated for five Tony Awards, eight Drama Desk Awards, and three Drama League Awards.

The musical features original music, but some songs will be familiar to fans of the movie, including "Somebody Kill Me" and "Grow Old with You," both co-written by Adam Sandler for the 1998 film.

Performances will take place on Friday, July 29 at 8:00pm; Saturday, July 30 at 3:00pm and 8:00pm; and Sunday, July 31 at 3:00pm. All performances take place at The Barn Theatre, located at 32 Skyline Drive in Montville, NJ.

Tickets are $15 (+ a service fee) and available online by visiting: www.aspireweddingsinger.brownpapertickets.com

Advanced ticket sales will end Friday, July 29 for all performances and any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $20 (cash or check only). For more information, visit www.aspirepac.com or call/email Aspire PAC at 201-220-4933 or aspirepac@gmail.com.
