Art Center Presents a Concert in the Gallery With Mary Bichner & Molly Zenobia In conjunction with the exhibition Radiant Energy, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey will host an evening of music on Saturday, March 10 from 6-8 PM, with composers and singers Mary Bichner and Molly Zenobia. Radiant Energy focuses on visual artists whose work centers around color and color theory. Mary and Molly Will perform and speak about how they use synesthesia-a neurological condition that causes them to "see" splashes of specific colors when they hear corresponding pitches sounded-to write music.

Mary Bichner creates richly-colored compositions that delight classical enthusiasts and indie-pop rockers alike. She collaborated with Boston's Museum of Science for the premiere of "Synesthesia Suite: Constellations," a collection of chamber works inspired by the New England night sky in spring. The suite was performed live in concert by Bichner and the Planetary Quartet during two sold-out concerts at the Charles Hayden Planetarium.

Molly Zenobia's music has been described as soulful, visceral, and vast. She has opened for the Foo Fighters, and has played on the same bill as Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Rachel Sage, Edie Carey, Mila Drumke, and the Dresden Dolls. She is currently working on her fourth album with Matt Malley, one of the founding members of the Counting Crows, as well as collaborating with Roedelius on an additional album.

The concert will take place on Saturday, March 10, from 6-8 PM and wine and cheese will be served. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door the night of the event, or through artcenternj.org.
