SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES … DON’T MISS THE WITCH HUNT THIS NOVEMBER!
Littleton, NH: Theatre UP invites you to join us this fall as we open our 46th season with a riveting production of The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s gripping historical drama and an evergreen parable of contemporary society.
Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award and inspired by the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s, the play takes audiences back to a fictionalized account of the Salem, Massachusetts witch trials that took place during the years 1692 and 1693. It is a tale of lies, revenge and mass hysteria as the citizens of Salem turn against each other and as gossip becomes fact, lies become truth and innocence becomes guilt. When a servant girl accuses a farmer’s wife of witchcraft, One accusation spirals into many, uncovering a web of bigotry and deceit that changes their lives forever. Miller explores how public hysteria combined with fear can destroy people’s lives.
The Crucible is presented at the historic Littleton Opera House. Director Andrew Lidestri and a talented team have created a chilling and provocative production of this well-known American classic. This is not the conventional high school play version of The Crucible. Don't miss out on the chance to see Miller’s most well-known play come alive in Littleton! Recommended for ages 13 and up due to complex themes and mature content.
Huge thanks to our show sponsor, Passumpsic Bank, and our opening night sponsor, the Martland Family, both long-time supporters, for helping us to bring The Crucible to the Opera House stage.
