The Claremont Opera House, Claremont Soup Kitchen and Claremont Spice and Dry Goods are coming together to hold the second annual Grilling for Good benefit concert, including a Chopped style food competition. The concert will be held on the hillside of Arrowhead Recreation Area. Doors open at 3:30pm.The Chopped Competition - Grilling Edition - starts at 4pm and there will be two rounds of competition: appetizer and entre, with judging after each round. Competitors for 2022 are Jason Benware, Elliott Hale and Dana McGrath!! Who will take home the coveted Chopped trophy for 2022? Judges to be confirmed in the coming weeks.The music starts at 5pm with the Jay Doucette Band. Jay has been playing guitar professionally for the last 58 years. Some of the highlights of his musical career include backing up Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, and opening up for major acts including James Brown, The Allman Brothers, and Buddy Miles Express. Jayis featured in the Boston Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The band will playfour sets ofclassic rock, blues, and jazz, between the grilling competition.Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for K-12 students, with proceeds going to fund the COH Capital Campaign for a new sound system and other A/V upgrades.Adults can choose to sit in the bar "wet" section or the family "dry" section. Bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Also, a limited number of fire pits are available for $30 to add to your ticket order, providing a reserved seating space for your party. The fire pits come with a 3 hour fire log that can be lit at any time through the event.The Soup Kitchen will be providing concessions of North Country Smokehouse sausages and hot dogs, with sides and beverages; all by donation. Sweet Fire BBQ will provide beer/wine service in the restricted wet bar adult only area.This community event is supported in part by Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, Bergeron's Houses to Homes Real Estate, and VegetaBall's Pesto.
