White Hot Winter Held At Seacoast Rep

This year the Seacoast Rep is hosting White Hot Winter at the Rep. WHW @The Rep is a surefire way to warm your spirit and seats for the month of February. The theatre is offering 3 sizzling shows, locally produced and sure to be crowd pleasers. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, all three shows explore the racy, the provocative and even the silly side of love.

First up is Vaudeville Re-VAMPED: A Night of Melodrama and Vivacious VaVoom! Vaudville Re-VAMPED offers a nostalgic look into acts and theatre skits of the past. You'll travel back to the days of gas lights and grease paint. The show will include the camp melodrama "The Chips Are Down or Virtue Triumph O’er The Laws of Chance" Followed by acts of comedy and song. Directed by the Emmy Award winning Bill Humphreys and presented by the resident artists of Seacoast Rep (with special guests), you're sure to break a sweat. Vaudeville Re-VAMPED runs Feb. 3rd -Feb 11th 2012, Friday and Saturday at 7pm. Tickets are $20 general admission.

Later in the month warm your hearts and join the Rep as we raise funds and awareness to end violence against women and girls. V-Day Portsmouth 2012 presents a benefit production of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES by Eve Ensler. Variety calls this show "Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving . . . it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction." Now in its third year, V-Day Portsmouth 2012 is organized by Joi Smith and Danica Carlson of Back Alley Productions, and is part of a of the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls by raising funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES and other artistic works. THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES hits The Rep’s stage for THREE NIGHTS ONLY Performances dates are Friday February 17th at 8pm, Saturday February 18th at 8pm, and Sunday February 19th at 7pm at Seacoast Repertory Theater. Tickets are $25.00 general admission ($20.00 students/seniors) and 100% of proceeds benefit Sexual Assault Support Services (www.sassnh.org) and the national V-Day movement (www.vday.org). Our last event will surely get your heart rate up as we present Sweet Nothings : Burlesque and Drag Revue. Sweet Nothings features the local talents of Lady Luck Burlesque (Portsmouth, NH) and The Dirty Dishes Burlesque Revue (Portland, ME) and the resident artists of Seacoast Rep moving and shaking in a way you’ve never seen. Hosted by Portland, Maine drag legend “Bunny Wonderland“ and Boston Drag Diva, Delta Miles, the night will showcase the beauty and freeness that burlesque and drag have on everyone who performs it, and those who experience it. From vivacious dances, conceptual performance art, to down right dirty and delightful drag acts, Sweet Nothings gives the audience a much needed break from the constraints of the cold night by heating them up proper. Sweet Nothings: Burlesque and Drag Revue is presented one night only on February 24th at 8pm. Tickets are $20 general admission.
