The State Ballet Theatre of Russia's new, fully-staged production of Cinderella comes to the Capitol Center for the Arts for two performances on Wednesday, February 6, and Thursday, February 7, at 7:30pm

With more than 50 magnificent dancers onstage this internationally acclaimed company brings to life this timeless fairy tale in a swirl of sumptuous spectacle, majestic music and breathtaking choreography. The State Ballet Theatre's production of the world's favorite rags-to-riches story premiered in 2006 to critical acclaim and was heralded by the New York Times which wrote: "As an overall production Cinderella was full of enchantment ... this fairy tale came to life (with) lovely scenery (and) graceful costumes."

Formed in 1961, the State Ballet Theatre of Russia has established itself as one of Russia's leading ballet companies by building an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and depth. The soloists and corps de ballet include some of Russia's most accomplished dancers, and never fail to delight audiences with their breathtaking physical ability and dazzling costumes.

The State Ballet Theatre of Russia's production of Cinderella is choreographed by Vladimir Vasiliev, the former General Director of the Bolshoi Ballet and one of the greatest male Russian dancers of the 20th century. Vasiliev is now regarded as one of the ballet world's most distinguished choreographers, teachers and scholars.

The State Ballet Theatre of Russia has toured with productions of traditional Russian classics throughout France, Germany, Holland and Czechoslovakia, as well as in India and throughout Africa. Numerous distinguished students of the famous Voronezh Choreographic College joined the State Ballet Theatre of Russia upon their graduation.
