GODSPELL is the dramatic retelling of the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth, based on the Gospel of Matthew. Originally created as a college project in 1970 by John-Michael Tebelak, when composer and Barn Alum Stephen Schwartz joined the team it became an international hit. Godspell is a timeless story of friendship and loyalty based on the Gospel of Matthew, and includes hits like "Day by Day," "Prepare Ye the Way Of The Lord," and "Beautiful City." The film version, starring Victor Garber as Jesus, premiered in 1973, and GODSPELL opened on Broadway in 1976 and was recently revived in 2011.

The Barn's first mainstage production feature the talents of Barn family members both returning and new. Carol Dunne++, Artistic Director of Northern Stage and former Artistic Director of the Barn, returns to the Barn to direct GODSPELL. Joining Carol on the creative team are Barn Alumni Kyle Brand (Spamalot at the Barn, Mama Mia at Northern Stage) as Choreographer and Emily Kimball (2016's Brigadoon and How to Succeed...) as Costume Designer. Returning cast members include Taylor Wright as Jesus (2014 Acting Intern Company) and Kyra Kennedy* as a featured soloist (2012 Acting Intern Company).

Rounding out the cast is our incredible 2017 Acting Intern Company, who bring stand-out performances to this unique, ensemble-driven show. Featured performers for GODSPELL include Elijah Dawson as Judas (Baldwin Wallace, 2020), Elana Valastro (Cornell, 2017), Dori Waymer (Florida State University, 2018), Zachary Collins (Ithaca College, 2018), Jacob Roberts-Miller (Pace University, 2019), Julia Hemp (Penn State, 2018), Liza Couser (Dartmouth College, 2017), and Robert Cueva (Dartmouth College, 2017).

GODSPELL runs for two weeks, Wednesday through Sunday (June 14-18), and Tuesday through Sunday (June 20-25). Evening performances are at 7:30 Tuesday through Saturday and 5:00 pm on Sunday. Wednesday matinees are at 2:00 pm. Tickets range from $19.50-$40.00, with Student Rush tickets available for $16.50. Please call 603-526-6710 or visit us at www.nlbarn.org to purchase seats.
