NEXT TO NORMAL Begins Tonight at the Players' Ring
Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical Next to Normal plays the Players' Ring Theatre in Portsmouth, NH in March.
Next to Normal is a contemporary groundbreaking musical about a modern family dealing with the effects of mental illness. The Pulitzer Board called the show "a powerful rock musical that expands the scope of subject matter for musicals." Book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, Next to Normal is about a mother who struggles with depression and how it affects her entire family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving, loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry and modern life. With an electrifying pop-rock score, 3 Tony awards, and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this intense, emotional, and ultimately hopeful musical aims right for the heart.
Starring Linette Miles, Billy Butler, Chelsea Herman, Nick Moulton, Jacob Zentis and Nick Iannotti. Directed by Danielle Howard with music direction by John Berst.
Tickets: General $18; Students, Seniors, Members $15. The show runs tonight, March 7 - 23, playing Friday and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm.
