London Revival of FUNNY GIRL Comes To Jaffrey In HD
The famous Broadway musical from the 1960s, Funny Girl, was recently revived in London. A high definition film of that staged production has been produced and the River Street Theatre (RST) in Jaffrey will exclusively screen it for one day only on Wednesday, October 24 at 2pm and 7pm.
Following its record-breaking, sell-out run in London's West End and national tour, the critically-acclaimed musical Funny Girl arrives at the RST featuring multi-award winning British stage, television and screen actress Sheridan Smith in "an unforgettable star turn" (The Times). Funny Girl is semi-biographical, based on the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedienne Fanny Brice (a role made famous by Barbra Streisand on Broadway in 1963 and in the 1968 film adaptation), and her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein.
Praised by critics as having "irresistible charm, wit and warmth" (Metro), and hailing Sheridan Smith as "the greatest star by far" (The Daily Telegraph), Funny Girl features a host of iconic and timeless musical numbers including "People," "I'm the Greatest Star," and "Don't Rain On My Parade." Tickets for Funny Girl are $15 each. A discounted ticket of $13 is available for seniors, active military, students, and teachers. Group sales and private screening parties are also available.
