By:

Discover how a wood chipper can stop an alien invasion. Learn how the Cuban missile crisis was averted by a guy in a bath towel. Confront the horrifying truth about life on Mars. Tonight, January 22nd, Evening Broadcast Productions critically acclaimed series Evening Broadcasts returns to The Players' Ring stage with a new, world-premiere collection of short plays.

Presented tonight, January 22nd, through February 7th at the Players' Ring, 105 Marcy Street, Portsmouth, NH with shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, Sundays 1/24 & 1/31 at 7:00 pm and Sunday 2/7 at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $15 with discounts for members, students, and seniors and can be reserved online at www.PlayersRing.org or by calling (603) 436-8123.

This year, a smash list of playwrights tackled a theme: saving the world. The result is an impressive collection of works ranging from wildly funny to edge-of-your-seat suspense, written in the bizarre tradition of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. The show includes new pieces from Jacquelyn Benson (Interference, Crush Depth), Eric Doucet (DARWiN'S WAiTiNG ROOM), G. Matthew Gaskell (The Sharp Dressed Men Trilogy), Callie Kimball (Rush), and Michael Kimball (Ghosts of Ocean House, Duck and Cover).

The eight pieces in the collection are directed by Todd Hunter, G. Matthew Gaskell, and Whitney Smith. Featuring the talents of Zach Cranor, Jasmin Hunter, Zak Koehler, Elizabeth Locke, Tomer Oz, Matt Schofield, Whitney Smith, and Ben Tylka,

Come to the Players' Ring and see for yourself why critics have called this series "by far the best production to grace the Ring's stage in quite a long while" and "one of those rare, delightful boxes of mixed treats - each new selection proclaimed a favorite."

Since 1992, the mission of The Players' Ring has been to promote the efforts of local artists through the production of original works, while providing an affordable theatre space to local production companies. "The Ring" provides an environment where artists can thrive, grow, take risks and make daring choices.
