ECHOES ON THE PEAKS Haunts the HatBox

On Labor Day Weekend, an Appalachian specter will visit the Hatbox Theatre. Echoes on the Peaks comes to the stage from Thursday, August 30th through Sunday, September 2nd. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 PM, and the Sunday matinee starts at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $17, $14 for members, seniors and students, and $12 for senior members.

Echoes on the Peaks spins two tales of travelers who ascend Tennessee's Roan Mountain seeking fulfillment - but instead are forever changed by an encounter with the mountain's resident ghost. In the first act, enthusiastic hikers Jean Machine and Soul Flute make camp on the balds. A few weeks into their journey up the Appalachian Trail, the two seem undaunted even as storms threaten and sounds in the dark disturb their composure. But will the mountain and its haunts unearth secrets they didn't intend to reveal?

In the second act, a historian named Adaline aims for the summit in hopes of witnessing the mountain's famed Phantom Choir - but her plans are thwarted by an unearthly fog and a mysterious stranger. As she tries - and fails - to push on against all obstacles, Adaline slowly begins to suspect there may be more than dark local lore behind the woman's dire warnings. Are the two women adversaries or allies - and what is it that ties each one to the mountain?

Using the folklore and song of the Appalachian region, Echoes on the Peaks will usher in the fall season with mystery, drama, and a little bit of shiver up the spine.
