Boston's Own Sarah Lamb Stars In London Royal Ballet's THE WINTER'S TALE At River St Theatre

Jaffrey's River Street Theatre (RST) presents The Royal Ballet's adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale on Sunday, April 8 and Wednesday, April 11, both at 2pm. This RST Stage2Screen presentation will be shown as it was staged in London on February 28, 2018, and captured in high definition.

Christopher Wheeldon, Associate Artistic Director of The Royal Ballet, created his adaptation of Shakespeare's late great romance The Winter's Tale for The Royal Ballet in 2014. Building on the success of Wheeldon's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Winter's Tale received ecstatic praise at its premiere, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike for its intelligent, distinctive and emotionally powerful story, told through exquisite dance. It is now widely judged to be a modern ballet classic.

The story follows the destruction of a marriage through consuming jealousy, the abandonment of a child and a seemingly hopeless love. Yet, through remorse and regret - and after a seemingly miraculous return to life - the ending is one of forgiveness and reconciliation. With powerful designs by Bob Crowley and atmospheric music by Joby Talbot, The Winter's Tale is a masterful modern narrative ballet. The UK's Express newspaper gives it a 5-star review.

Boston's own Sarah Lamb is a principal dancer with The Royal Ballet. In The Winter's Tale she plays the role of Perdita, the daughter of Leontes, King of Sicilia, and his wife Hermione. Sarah's parents visited the River Street Theatre last December to see their daughter as the Sugar Plum Fairy in the RST's screening of The Royal Ballet production of The Nutcracker.

Tickets for all Stage2Screen screenings are $20 each (students and teachers with ID, $15). Due to the intimate size of the River Street Theatre, it is highly recommended that tickets are purchased in advance. Call the Box Office at 603-532-8888 or go to www.riverst.org to purchase tickets with any major credit card.

The River Street Theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The River Street Theatre is sponsored by Grove Street Fiduciary, Coca-Cola, the Board of Trustees of the Park Theatre, Janet S. Grant, Betty Locke, Owen Houghton and the James F. & Fernande Kelly Charitable Trust.
