As a tribute to former Artistic Director Rudi van Dantzig, the Dutch National Ballet dances are critically acclaimed version of Romeo and Juliet, to the famous love tragedy of Shakespeare. With subtle character sketches and sensitive atmosphere drawings he shows how the feud between the noble families and is destroying everything: not only the Montecchi Capoletti carefree youth and blossoming love of Romeo and Juliet-a love they with the death-but also the life of the poor people of Verona. An important contribution to the success of the ballet is also provided by the beautiful design: the scene picture of Toer van Schayk looks like a renaissance painting brought to life in pastel and Scarlet.
