Nihon Buyo is a traditional Japanese form of performing arts in which important elements of Japanese culture such as simplicity, beauty, light and space are stressed. Nihon Buyo means 'Japanese Dance' and is an ancient dance. Nihon Buyo plays alongside more familiar classical theatre disciplines like Noh, Kabuki and Bunraku an essential role in Japanese culture. The Japanese Nihon Buyo Foundation founded a company especially for their performances in the Netherlands. The company is headed by Nishikawa Senzo who was awarded a living national Heritage title which is very prestigious in Japan.
