Wine Tasting to Raise Funds for TPAC

By:

The Bacchanalian Society of Nashville hosts a one-of-a-kind wine tasting and fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

Tickets to the event are $15 per person, and must be purchased in advance at www.bacchsociety.com. This is a 21 and older event.

The theme for this wine tasting is ‘Organic Red Wine.' Participants must come as teams of one, two or three, and are responsible for bringing three bottles of the same organic red wine. Upon arrival, two bottles from each team will be opened, numbered, covered and set out to taste. The third bottle will be set aside for the winning prizes. Guests have two hours to taste and rate as many of the wines as time allows. Scores will be tallied, and teams that bring the first, second and last place wines will win portions of the unopened bottles.

"Last year's event at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center was a great success, raising more than $13,000 for educational and cultural programs at TPAC," said Aaron Armstrong, event co-chair. "It was a complete sell out, with more than 1,000 in attendance, and we expect a similar turn out this year. Please don't wait to purchase your tickets. It's going to be a fun, fulfilling night in beautiful downtown Nashville."

The Bacchanalian Society of Nashville was organized to give ‘box wine lovers' and wine connoisseurs the opportunity to learn more about wine in a relaxed, social setting while benefitting local charities. The society hosts competitive wine tasting events, and the best part of this wine competition is that regardless of your experience with drinking, sniffing, buying or selling wine, winners who bring the most popular wine have a chance to take home several cases of wine at the end of the night. Votes are counted equally and attendees are often surprised to find that taste isn't always indicative of price, and with this event, even the worst wine is rewarded. All over 21 years of age are welcome, so bring friends and join us for a guaranteed good time.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to providing and supporting the presentation of the performing arts to the citizens of Tennessee. Its four stages are home to HCA/TriStar Broadway at TPAC, Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera, Tennessee Repertory Theatre and a variety of special engagements. TPAC administers one of the largest and most comprehensive arts-in-education programs in the United States, offering learning opportunities for children and adults. The organization has served more than 1.5 million students from pre-school to high school over the past two decades. For more information, visit the web site, www.tpac.org.

Visit www.bacchsociety.com for more information and to pre-pay, as this event is likely to sell out. TPAC is located at 505 Deaderick Street, Nashville, TN 37243. Guests should enter under the marquee at the corner of Deaderick and 6th Avenue.
