Tony-winner LaChanze Joins IF/THEN National Tour in Nashville

Tony Award-winning Broadway star LaChanze (If/Then, The Color Purple) will join the national tour of IF/THEN when it plays a limited one-week engagement at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall June 7-12. LaChanze's addition to the touring cast reunites her with Jackie Burns and Anthony Rapp, who along with LaChanze, starred in the original Broadway production of IF/THEN.

IF/THEN is a contemporary new musical that follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in that city of infinite possibilities. When her carefully designed plans collide with the whims of fate, Elizabeth's life splits in two parallel paths. IF/THEN follows both stories simultaneously as this modern woman faces the intersection of choice and chance.

LaChanze reprises her role as Kate, an elementary school teacher and Elizabeth's spirited new neighbor. LaChanze is best known for her Tony Award-winning performance as Celie inThe Color Purple, and has received a Tony, Outer Critics Circle Award, and Drama Desk nomination for her role as Ti Moune in Once On This Island. IF/THEN is written by Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics), and directed byMichael Greif, the creative team behind the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musicalNext to Normal.

IF/THEN features choreography by Larry Keigwin, set design by Tony Award Nominee Mark Wendland, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Tony Award-WinnerKenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Award Winner Brian Ronan. Casting is byTelsey + Company/Craig Burns, CSA. Mark Myars is the Associate Choreographer.
