The Roxy Tradition of A CHRISTMAS CAROL Opens Today

By:

After the Thanksgiving rush is over, the Roxy Regional Theatre invites patrons to join John McDonald, as Ebenezer Scrooge, as he meets the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future while rediscovering the true meaning of the holiday in the Charles Dickens classic A CHRISTMAS CAROL, opening today, November 25, at 8pm.

Featuring such holiday standards as "A-Caroling We Go," "Silent Night," "Christmas Is Here," "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown" and more, the classic story is performed by Ryan Bowie, Brianna Hertzberg, Travis Kendrick, Alan Lee, Brandon Meeks, Leah Sugerman and Joylene Taylor, along with a rotating cast of twenty local youth portraying the Cratchit children: Colby Adams, Sydney Barksdale, Gavin Berlyak, Jesse Boyle, Addisyn Bryant, Nicholas Cavin, Hannah Collins, Kourtni Cottrell, Nathanel Dorminey, Whitney Flickinger, Scott Hall, Noah Holt, Truman Jepson, Sidney McCarty, Madeline O'Connor, Nathaniel Pittman, Liam Poland, Christian Rieke, Brooke Schauer and David Snyder. This production is made possible in part through the generous support of Target.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL opens Friday, November 25, with "Toys for Tickets," during which patrons can bring new, unwrapped toys in exchange for admission. Tickets will go on sale at 7:30pm, and donated toys will go to less fortunate children through Q108 radio's toy drive. This is the Roxy Regional Theatre's fifth year to partner with Q108 on their "Q Cares for Kids" toy drive.

The performance on Thursday, December 8, is part of "Christmas Over The Cumberland," in which patrons will enjoy a holiday dinner with Santa at F&M Bank's Franklin Room at 5pm, followed by A CHRISTMAS CAROL at the Roxy at 7pm. This special evening is presented by Jimmy and Lena Orgain, F&M Bank and the Roxy Regional Board of Directors. Tickets, which are $50, are 100% tax deductible, and all proceeds benefit the new Center for Arts and Education.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL runs November 25 through December 17, playing selected Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with 2pm matinees on Saturday, December 10, and Saturday, December 17. There are no performances on Wednesday, November 30, and Thursday, December 1. Tickets are $20 (adults) and $15 (ages 13 and under) and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931)645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9am - 2pm, Monday - Friday).
