The next performance in TPAC's Family Field Trip series is The Frog Bride, which will take place at 2 PM on Saturday, December 11, 2010, inside the James K. Polk Theater.
The Frog Bride is a hip, new family-friendly adaptation of the classic Russian fairy tale, The Frog Princess. The story traces the journey of a dreamy (and prideful) youth into manhood, and is considered one of the great pieces of folk literature in the western world.Set against a stunning backdrop of live video and images by painter Wassily Kandinsky, this original adaptation is told by David Gonzalez, a consummate storyteller with Monsey, NY-based Rain Art Productions, who plays every role. Live musicians weave original jazz and the music of Sergei Prokofiev's throughout the words and visions.Filled with comic sparkle, The Frog Bride shows us the qualities of innocence, wonder, as well as discovery through the characters of princes, frogs, witches, and one very enchanted young lady. NYTHEATRE.com says "David Gonzalez's The Frog Bride is a magical, enchanting hour of storytelling. I can't think of a more delightful way to introduce a young child to the joy of theatre. And I'm not sure I can come up with a more charming way for an adult to pass an hour, either."The TPAC Family Field Trip series is sponsored by Regions, and in part by the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, Tennessee Arts Commission and Publix Super Markets Charities. Nashville Parent is the media sponsor of TPAC Family Field Trips. Hotel sponsors include Doubletree Hotel Downtown Nashville and Homewood Suites by Hilton - Nashville Downtown.
