Scarlett Turney Directs Arts Center of Cannon County's CHICAGO
Set against a backdrop of the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, the Arts Center of Cannon County presents Chicago-the story of Roxie Hart (with Alexandra McNamara and Jessica Storvik alternating in the role) a housewife and nightclub dancer who maliciously murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her-running September 14-23 in Woodbury.
Desperate to avoid conviction, Roxie dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly (Tiffany Sweeley), by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer Billy Flynn (Todd Turney) to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids. This show also features Layne Sasser as Mama Morton and Jonathan Higdon as Amos.
Performances are September 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m., and September 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.
Chicago is directed and produced by Scarlett Turney with choreography by Kathryn Turney and music direction by Heather Moulder.
Tickets are available by calling the Arts Center box office at (615) 563-2787 or (800) 235-9073. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.artscenterofcc.com. The Arts Center is located on 1424 John Bragg Highway, just west of the town of Woodbury, approximately 20 minutes from Murfreesboro, Manchester, and McMinnville and one hour southeast of Nashville. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
