The Nashville Symphony today announces new locations for all of its upcoming summer concerts while Schermerhorn Symphony Center continues to undergo repairs from the flooding in early May. All concerts will take place on the dates originally scheduled, and all show times will remain the same as well. A list of upcoming concerts follows:
All three of the Symphony's First Tennessee Summer Festival have been relocated to Lipscomb University's Collins Alumni Auditorium, with performances on June 4 & 5, June 18 & 19, and July 9 & 10. Show time for all concerts is 7:30 p.m. The recently renovat
Ed Collins Alumni Auditorium is located in the heart of Lipscomb University's campus, directly across from the school's Bennett Campus Center. Plentiful parking is available in lots accessible from both Belmont Boulevard and Granny White Pike.
The opening concert in the First Tennessee Summer Festival, on June 4 & 5, will feature pianist Misha Dichter performing Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Also to be performed are Schubert's Unfinished Symphony and two recent works by American composer Joseph Schwantner.
On June 18 & 19, the orchestra will welcome the Claremont Trio on Beethoven's Triple Concerto, while Telemann's Concerto for Three Oboes, Violins and Continuo will feature Nashville Symphony oboists
Bobby Taylor, Ellen Menking and Roger Wiesmeyer. Also to be performed is Brahms' Fourth Symphony.
The final Summer Festival Concert, on July 9 & 10, includes Haydn's Drum Roll Symphony, Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony and Copland's Clarinet Concerto, the last of which will feature the Symphony's Principal Clarinetist,
James Zimmermann.

On June 23, the Nashville Symphony will present Chamber Music with Charles Wadsworth & Friends at Blair School of Music's Ingram Hall, located at 2400 Blakemore Avenue on the campus of Vanderbilt University. Pianist Wadsworth is the founding Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and has served as director of chamber music programming at the Spoleto USA Festival since its inception. For this concert, he'll be joined by violinist Chee-Yun, cellist Sebastien Hurtaud, pianist Stephen Prutsman and soprano Courtenay Budd. The program will include works by Handel, Saint-Saëns, Barber, Mendelssohn, Kodaly and Wadsworth.
On July 16, the Nashville Symphony will present country singer Mary Chapin Carpenter in a special performance at Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Jackson Hall. This concert will be presented without orchestra and will feature Carpenter revisiting hits such as "Down at the Twist & Shout" and "He Thinks He'll Keep Her," along with selections from her brand-new album, The Age of Miracles.
On August 22, the Nashville Symphony will present legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock's The Imagine Project Tour at the Ryman Auditorium. This concert will be presented without orchestra. The 12-time GRAMMY® winner will share music from The Imagine Project, his forthcoming CD collaboration with musicians from across the globe.
Ticket information for all of the above concerts is available through the Nashville Symphony's website, at NashvilleSymphony.org. (Herbie Hancock tickets are currently only available to 2010/11 season ticket holders. We will soon announce the date when Hancock tickets go on sale to the general public.)
