Nashville Opera Presents Giuseppe Verdi's RIGOLETTO

By:

Nashville Opera will present the final production of the 2009-10 season, Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto, on Saturday, April 10 at 8 pm and Tuesday, April 13 at 7 pm in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall located at 505 Deaderick Street in Downtown Nashville. Rigoletto is directed by John Hoomes and features the Nashville Symphony under the direction of Maestro Joel Revzen, Arizona Opera's Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. The production will be sung in Italian with projected English translations. The cast includes Metropolitan Opera star baritone Daniel Sutin as Rigoletto, tenor Ryan MacPherson as the Duke of Mantua, soprano Megan Monaghan as Gilda, bass Mark McCory as Sparafucile, mezzo-soprano Audrey Babcock as Maddalena, and bass-baritone Seth Mease Carico as Count Monterone. The stage lighting has been created by noted New York fashion lighting designer Joe Saint. Tickets range from $17 to $80 and may be purchased from Nashville Opera at (615) 832-5242, online at www.nashvilleopera.org, or at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center Box Office locations.

Based on the story by Victor Hugo, Rigoletto blends wonderful music with dark intrigue in this tragic tale of a father's vengeance. The opera includes one of the most famous arias of all time, La Donna è Mobile.
