Melodie Madden Adams takes to the stage as her fictional alter ego in The Linda Lane Show: Pageants, Prayers & Pianos, presented by MAS Nashville on Monday, September 19 at The Basement.

In her new one-woman cabaret show, Madden Adams takes her audience back to the 1960s to embody the fictional Linda Lane - described as "a journey of song and storytelling" - a simple girl with a simple dream.

"It's a reflection of Linda herself," Madden Adams explains. "It's a delightful balance of elegance and naivete, glamour and reality, humor and grit. If you long for the days when performers were poised, polished, multi-talented and dripping with finesse."

The fictional Linda Lane is described as "captivating [and] entertaining," and "with her golden voice and platinum hair, she's likely to stear your heart as she shares her trials and tribulations on her road to 'stardom.'"

According to Madden Adams, TheLinda Lane Show was inspired by, among other things, "cable access show with bad sound mixing" and Adams' own Southern Baptist upbringing in her native Arkansas.

"There was a bizarre subculture that believed that anyone who sang before the pastor preached was a celebrity and this gave those performers an inflated sense of self and talent," she says. "Linda is one of those people."

"Because of my fond affection for performers, pageants, sweet southern charm and theme park-type entertainment, I wanted to create something that paid tribute to all these things - thus, Linda Lane was born!"

This is Adams' first one-woman show although she has starred on many of Nashville's theatrical stages. The Linda Lane Show features a script by Madden Adams, Megan Murphy Chambers and Amanda Sears. Directed by Megan Murphy Chambers, with costumes by Billy Ditty and a three-piece band, under the music direction of Laura Matula, accompanies Madden Adams.

Tickets are available at the door of The Basement for $8. Linda Lane takes the stage at 7 p.m.
