Jazz Vocalist Kurt Elling to Perform with Nashville Symphony

By:

Fresh from his 2010 GRAMMY® win for Best Jazz Vocal Album, popular American jazz vocalist Kurt Elling is joining the Nashville Symphony as the final addition to its 2010/11 Adams and Reese Jazz Series.

The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. on February 4, 2011, at Schermerhorn Symphony Center's Laura Turner Concert Hall. Tickets to the performance are currently available for purchase only as part of a 2010/11 season ticket package. Single tickets will be available to the general public beginning July 17, 2010.

Boasting a four-octave vocal range and a broad repertoire that encompasses everything from ballads and scat to spoken-word, Kurt Elling has earned a reputation as one of today's leading jazz performers. He has performed and recorded with such music greats as Dave Brubeck, David Amram, Buddy Guy, Jon Hendricks and Randy Bachman. Elling's performance at the Schermerhorn will include the Nashville Symphony, led by Honolulu Symphony Pops Conductor Matt Catingub. Also included in the Symphony's 2010/11 Adams and Reese Jazz Series are performances by saxophonist David Sanborn on October 8, 2010 and guitarist Al Di Meola on March 18, 2011.
