East Side Story Presents Events for People & Book Lovers of All Ages

By: Oct. 10, 2013

Starting this weekend, East Side Story will be provided events for people and book lovers of all ages.

* During the 2nd Saturday art crawl at 5 Points this Saturday, October 12th, and coinciding with the 25th Annual Southern Festival of Books:

"Nashville Storytellers: Faces Behind the Stories" on Display at East Side Story Starting Oct. 12
Nashville visual artist Jeff Bertrand has partnered with East Side Story to create an exhibition of works inspired by local Nashville authors entitled Nashville Storytellers: Faces behind the Stories. The exhibition celebrating Nashville's literary scene through portraits of local authors will kick off with a reception Saturday, October 12, 5-9 p.m. at East Side Story located at 1108 Woodland Street, Unit B, in East Nashville. This reception is free and open to the public.

* If you are not at the Southern Festival of Books in person at noon, you can watch the following introduction and Q & A with bestselling author & fellow indie bookstore owner Wendy Welch (her book is "The Little Bookstore of Big Stone Gap: A Memoir Friendships, Community, and the Uncommon Pleasures of a Good Book"). The session takes place Saturday, Oct. 12 from 12-1 p.m. in Conf. Room IA of the Nashville Public Library. It is scheduled to be aired live on CSPAN2's BookTV.

* East Side Storytellin' is a bi-monthly live event that is recorded and edited into an hour long podcast/radio show. Recorded live every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month, they bring together local writers and musicians in a show that lets the talent do all of the shining. The writers read their original works, beginning promptly at 7pm, and then are followed by original storyteller sets of music by the featured musicians. After the last note is played, they gather up all of the featured artists of the night and moderate a casual conversation about the guests' creative processes, artistic journeys, and special ties to the Nashville area. It is generally over by 8:30pm, free to attend, and a great time had by all present (there is also artist merch, food, and spirits to purchase each round while you enjoy the show). Beginning in November of 2012, East Side Storytellin' has consistently showcased the best of what Nashville is about to everyone taking a break from their busy lives to join in the fun. They hope you can make it to one or both or all of the shows listed below.
