The choreography of the one is touching, the music of the other enchanting. Roger Sinha (Sinha Danse) and Kiya Tabassian (Constantinople) have merged their immense talents in a new piece for four dancers and three musicians in a highly original encounter between dance and Persian-inspired music. The piece explores the theme of migratory movements and the mixing of cultures. Renowned for hybrid dance where bharata natyam, martial arts and contemporary dance fuse together in a narrative framework that also pays tribute to traditional Indian dance, Roger Sinha pursues his interest in the immigrant, “the other”, the rootless. It was thus only natural to join forces with the ensemble Constantinople, specialists in dialogue between ancient musics of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, evoking the challenges of cultural encounters. Inspiring.
