BJM - LES BALLETS JAZZ DE MONTRÉAL is back with its contagious energy and three original works – one on the couple in the 21st century, another focused on the cultural legacy of Amerindian peoples and the third on the creative force of urban chaos. The evening opens with Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili and his brilliant take on the classical pas de deux of seduction, the forceful Mono Lisa. Clan spirit is present in Kosmos, where the Greek choreographer Andonis Foniadakis is inspired by urban frenzy, pushing the dancers hard to celebrate the beauty of being alive. The Brazilian Rodrigo Pederneiras then returns to the original roots in Rouge, a tribal dance full of momentum and sensuality. Powerful music and sophisticated lighting reinforce the impact of these works, which highlight the virtuosity and endurance of the company’s 14 remarkable dance artists. Breathtaking.
