UM Theatre Presents TONGUE OF A BIRD, 3/16-3/20
The University of Montana School of Theatre & Dance is pleased to offer Tongue of a Bird, a contemporary play with an all-female cast. Tongue of a Bird runs in the Masquer Theatre of the Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center on campus March 16-20 and 23-27 at 7:30 p.m.
How can a daughter truly spread her own wings when living in the shadow of her mother's memory? In Tongue of a Bird, the mesmerizing drama from acclaimed actor-playwright Ellen McLaughlin, a search-and-rescue pilot ends up coming ever closer to her family's sad history the more she tries to escape it. Memories and dreams blend into an ethereal story about mother-daughter-grandmother relationships in this vibrant and lyrical play.
John Kenneth DeBoer, an Assistant Professor of Acting/Directing and the resident voice specialist, makes his directorial debut with this intense offering. His cast and production team represent students from every level of the School of Theatre & Dance-from graduate acting candidates to undergraduate students in their second School productions, from an MFA scenery candidate to a December 2009 BFA graduate.
