Great Falls Philharmonic to Present Beethoven's 9th and CHICHESTER PSALMS in Reston

The Great Falls Philharmonic and the award-winning Voce Chamber Singers will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. Led by artistic director and conductor Derek Maseloff, the May 9, 2026, performance will take place at the Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston, Virginia.

Beethoven's Ninth Symphony stands as one of the most transformative works in the orchestral canon, breaking boundaries with its final movement setting Schiller's "Ode to Joy" for chorus and soloists. Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, composed in 1965, broke the mold of liturgical musical expression with its rhythmically dynamic, harmonically vibrant, and deeply expressive setting of the Psalms, sung in Hebrew.

This performance marks a unique collaboration between the Great Falls Philharmonic and Voce Chamber Singers, two ensembles dedicated to artistic excellence and community engagement in Northern Virginia. Founded in 2023, the Great Falls Philharmonic has quickly established itself as a vibrant presence in the region's cultural landscape. Presenting symphonic music in intimate spaces, the orchestra offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience the detail, nuance, and immediacy of live orchestral performance up close. Its musicians are emerging and established professionals from across the Washington metropolitan area, united by a shared commitment to artistry and connection.
