Gladstone Parks & Recreation and the Gladstone Arts Commission cordially invite you to attend our "Newest Entertainment Event". We have planned three visual art shows in 2011 in conjunction with the Tuesday evening June Tunes, a concert series held at Oak Grove Park, 76th and N. Troost, Gladstone, MO. Together, these two groups will provide a festive and colorful opportunity for people to gather in a relaxed and lovely park setting for entertainment and enjoyment.
Art Media categories may include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, graphics, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, fiber, wood and glass.
These will be juried; fine art shows. Artists' spaces will be in the shelter house near the Amphitheatre. The duration of each event is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Artists' booths will be open and ready for viewing/sales by 5 p.m.
In addition, there will be three special groups on site to do art projects with the kids. There will be something for everyone as well as concessions available on site.
The dates for the special Art Shows and Kids art groups are June 14th, 21st and 28th and all is free to the general public.

Tuesday, June 7th, 7:30 p.m. - The Corbin Jazz Ensemble - "Jazz On The Square" is the oldest running show at the Corbin Theater in the Liberty Square. The Band has appeared at many other Corbin Events besides "Jazz On The Square" and for various other community groups. They are lovingly known as "The Band That Never Rehearses? But they can play anything they are asked to play.

5:30 p.m. - Kansas City Art Institute of the Northland

7:30 p.m. - June Tunes series continues with Kathleen Holeman
Kathleen Holeman has performed Jazz and Blues in clubs and festivals in Kansas City, throughout Missouri and beyond for over twenty years. She teaches at Missouri Western State University directing two vocal Jazz ensembles and teaching vocal Jazz and piano Jazz lessons.
Tuesday, June 21st 5:00 p.m. - Artists' Booths Open for Viewing
5:30 p.m. - Mattie Rhodes Center (art projects with the kids)
7:30 p.m. - Northwinds Jazz Band
The Northwinds Jazz Band is a collection of outstanding musicians from the educational and professional community. This 18 piece Big Band performs music from some of the best composers and arrangers in the Jazz world from the Classic Big Band music of the 40's to current charts featuring originals and arrangements from several of this group's members.

5:30 p.m. - Odd Ball Kids (art projects with the kids)
7:30 p.m. - Steve Epley's "Roadhouse"
Roadhouse is one of Kansas City's favorite and most enduring bands. Dedicated to creating a party atmosphere with great American Honky-Tonk music since 1989. Roadhouse always strives to deliver enthusiasm, professionalism and a pretty darn good time.
