Buddy Guy, the legendary Chicago blues guitarist and showman known for his riveting, virtuoso playing and fervent vocals, performs at Hennepin Theatre Trust's State Theatre at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. Quinn Sullivan, the 11-year-old blues guitar prodigy mentored by Guy, opens the show and joins the five-time Grammy Award-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee later in the evening. Guy's October concert follows a sold-out February engagement with B.B. King at the Orpheum.

As a pioneer of the famous Chicago blues sound, Buddy Guy has made an enduring mark on blues and rock music, influencing such icons as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Guy's hits include "Damn Right," "I've Got The Blues," "Feels Like Rain" and "Slippin' In." His most recent studio album, "Skin Deep" (2008), features all original material. In addition to his Grammys, he has received 23 W.C. HAndy Blues Awards (the most any artist has received), the Billboard Magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. He is also ranked thirtieth in Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

Quinn Sullivan first caught Guy's attention in 2007 by playing for him when he asked for an autograph before a show. Guy was so impressed that he pullEd Sullivan on stage to jam with him. He has since aided his blossoming career by landing Sullivan record deals and featuring him on a "Skin Deep" track fittingly titled "Who's Gonna Fill Those Shoes." Sullivan has also performed on the "Oprah Winfrey Show," NBC's "Today Show" and the Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits festivals, among others.
