Sing-a-long Sound of Music at the Ordway Set for 10/21-22

Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start. "Sing-a-long Sound of Music," a screening of the classic Julie Andrews film musical in glorious, full-screen Technicolor® - complete with subtitles so the audience can sing along - comes to the Ordway for three performances only on October 21 and 22.

The fun-filled show commences with a vocal warm-up led by the evening's host, Katy McEwen, who also takes the audience through their complimentary "magic moments pack," containing various props including Edelweiss to be used at strategic points throughout the film.

Katy McEwen has worked at a number of theaters in the Twin Cities, but mostly calls The Brave New Workshop her home, having worked there since Clinton was president. She has served in the roles of actor, writer and director for The Brave New Workshop's performances and will be a delightful host delivering energy and spunk at each "Sing-a-long Sound of Music" screening.

"There is no show quite like ‘Sing-a-long Sound of Music,'" says Patricia A. Mitchell, Ordway president and CEO. "This joyous opportunity to experience the film in a whole new fashion is just extraordinary. Audiences of all ages love this popular interactive movie event."

Of course, we cannot forget the famous dress-up competition, at which everyone who has come in costume is invited onto the stage to show off their creativity and fantastic tailoring skills. Previous entries in other cities have included nuns, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, and a man in a gold Lycra jumpsuit (Ray, a drop of golden sun), just to highlight a few.

After a festival debut in May 1999, "Sing-a-Long Sound of Music" began running at the Prince Charles Cinema in London's West End. "Sing-a-Long Sound of Music" is now an international phenomenon touring productions to audiences all across the globe.
