Penumbra Theatre Company, one of the nation's pre-eminent African American theatres, announces the addition of 14 performances of I Wish You Love due to popular demand. The two-week extension runs through Sunday, December 18, 2011. Performances run Wednesdays through Sundays. Tickets are available at penumbratheatre.org or by calling 651-224-3180.

This original drama with music focuses on a fictionalized episode in the life of Nat "King" Cole. In 1957, Americans were falling in love to his sweet sounds while racial violence raged in the streets. Still, Cole believed that he would be judged on the content of his character as opposed to the color of his skin. Featuring 20 of his signature songs, the play uses Cole's television show, newscasts and commercials to illustrate the man, the times and the real life drama behind the sanitizing lens of the television camera.

The cast includes Eric Berryman (Jeffrey Prince), Dennis W. Spears (Nat "King" Cole), Michael Tezla (Bell Henry & News Anchor) and Kevin D. West (Oliver Moore).

I Wish You Love sold out both its April 2011 world premiere at Penumbra Theatre and its follow-up Kennedy Center run in Washington, D.C., and continues to be an audience favorite during its return engagement to its hometown stage.
