The Tony Award-winning actress Karen Olivo is coming to Minnetonka Theatre to teach a Master Class for high school students. This exciting two-day event is open to all Minnetonka High School theatre students interested in improving their audition techniques, and will include workshops, mock auditions, and even private coaching for the cast of Minnetonka's student summer stock production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (August 8-16).

Funding is provided by Minnetonka Theatre's booster club, known as the Curtain Call Club, who made it possible for Minnetonka to offer this amazing opportunity to its student actors free of charge, giving them a chance to improve their audition techniques.

Olivo made her Broadway debut as Mimi in Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer- and Tony Award-winning musical, Rent, went on to originate the role of Faith in the Broadway production of Brooklyn the Musical in 2004, received a Drama Desk Award for the role of Vanessa in In the Heights in 2007, an Astaire Award for Best Female Dancer on Broadway in 2008, and in 2009 won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a musical for her portrayal of the iconic role of Anita in West Side Story.

Olivo's theatre credits also include the Off-Broadway production of The Miracle Brothers, directed by Tina Landau, at the Vineyard Theatre, the Public Theatre's 40th Anniversary Concert production of Hair, directed by Diane Paulus, and The Ford Theatre's production of Children of Eden. She also has multiple film and television credits, including "The Good Wife," "Harry's Law," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "All My Children," and "Criminal Minds" among others.
