Jungle Theater Presents FOOL FOR LOVE, Now thru 10/20

By:

This fall, the Jungle Theater remounts one of its most requested productions, Sam's Shepard's FOOL FOR LOVE, designed and directed by Artistic Director Bain Boehlke. The explosive tale of doomed love and loss is set in a seedy motel on The Edge of the Mojave desert where transient lovers May and Eddie engage in a ruthless struggle for power and truth. Fool for Love opens tonight, September 6 and runs through October 20 at the Jungle Theater, 2951 Lyndale Av. S. in Minneapolis.

Terry Hempleman reprises his role as Eddie, one of his most memorable Jungle performances. Jennifer Blagen (May), Allen Hamilton (The Old Man) and Jason Peterson (Martin) add their considerable talents to the production.

Fool for Love, which won the Obie Award for Best New American Play in 1984, was also nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama that yeaR. Shepard adapted his play for the screen and starred as Eddie in Robert Altman's critically-acclaimed 1985 film.

The set for the production is an adaptation of the design Boehlke created for his 1996 Fool for Love staging at the original Jungle Theater. In addition to Boehlke, the creative team includes 2012 Ivey Award-winning Barry Browning (lighting design), Amelia Cheever (costume design), Sean Healey (sound designer), Wu Chen Khoo (technical director), Peter Moore (fight choreographer) and John Novak (properties and stage manager).

Fool for Love performances are Tuesdays ($20), Wednesdays ($28) and Thursdays ($33) at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. ($38); Sundays at 2 p.m. ($33); and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. ($28). Senior, student and group discounts are also available, and rush tickets are available every night of the week 30 minutes prior to the performance for $10 off the regular price. Tickets are available at (612) 822-7063 or online at www.jungletheater.com.
