Chanhassen Dinner Theatres' HAIRSPRAY To Raise Money for FoodShare Through March

By:

Based on last year's campaign, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres will hold a fund drive for the entire month of March to benefit Minnesota FoodShare. The "HUNGER ISN'T SOMETHIN' TO SING ABOUTFundDrive is the fourth consecutive effort of Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, this time in conjunction with the theatres' production of HAIRSPRAY. The past three fund drives have raised $51,789.00 toward the effort to eradicate hunger in our communities.

While the "HUNGER ISN'T SOMETHIN' TO SING ABOUT" Fund Drive runs through March, HAIRSPRAY, presented by Regis Salons, will continue through May 26th.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres' audience members can make a monetary contribution when they attend or at the time they make their ticket reservation by phone. In addition, a percentage of March ticket sales will be donated by Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. All dollars collected will go to Minnesota FoodShare's March Campaign. Every dollar given to the annual campaign goes directly to 300 local food shelves statewide to purchase food for the hungry. Each year their campaign raises more than half the food distributed, which amounts to more than 30 million pounds of food. Remarkably, for each dollar contributed, food shelves can purchase up to 4 pounds of food because they have access to a wider variety of sources than individuals do and many of those sources make items available at little or no cost. Monetary donations (as opposed to collecting actual food items) are also easier to collect and deliver, and give the food shelf greater flexibility to acquire much needed perishable items including fresh produce, meat, and dairy products.

Once again, Mary Beth Blom, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres' Marketing Manager, serves as the fund drive coordinator. "I'm proud that our audiences will be given a new opportunity to work alongside Minnesota FoodShare to help in the fight against hunger." Additional sponsors spreading the word about the "HUNGER ISN'T SOMETHIN' TO SING ABOUTFund Drive include partner, Cub Foods. Members of the community are also encouraged to drop off monetary donations to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres' box office during business hours as well. Checks made payable to Minnesota FoodShare will allow donations to be tax deductible.

To order tickets to HAIRSPRAY, call the box office at 952-934-1525 or toll-free at 1-800-362-3515, or go online to www.ChanhassenDT.com
