An eclectic group of awkward overachievers competes in a hilariously intense spelling bee, guided by equally quirky adults. As the competition unfolds and eliminations mount, each speller’s insecurities, hopes, and backstories come to light—often with laugh-out-loud results. What begins as a simple contest becomes a funny, heartfelt celebration of growing up, fitting in, and discovering that losing isn’t always such a bad thing.
